Project Body Drop

I started with an 83 Square body S10 and I stripped it down to the frame and we are going to preform a stock floor body drop to the rocker. Then a traditional body drop to the doors, Plus many other things.
I made a rack to hold the cab so its a lot easier to do all the sheet metal work on it.
Putting the cab on the rack. I suggest you have some buff friends around to help with this step.
I cut off all of the body mounts... later on in the project i ground the remaining of it off.
Here you can see all the factory body mounts that I cut off. You can reuse them but in this project i decided to make new ones.
Now I measured and marked out the frame. The new frame rails under the cab will stand 3 inches tall.
These are the cut off wheels I used... I prefer to use cut off wheels rather then a torch or plasma cutter because it doesnt heat up the frame as much.
Now I put brace bars underneath the frame to hold it in its place while it gets cut.
Now its time to cut.
This is the section I cut out... that is now in the recycle bin... I recommend recycling its good for the environment.
Now I did the traditional body drop on the cab and mounted it to the frame. I cut the whole firewall out because Im going to make a smooth one to take its place.
Here you can see the body mounts I made and you can see that I cut the rocker panels and capped them.
Then I made sheet metal rockers and went up to the floor of the cab for that CLEAN look. ;)
You can see here that the truck in fact does lay doors... WHALA!
Here the frame is plated and then welded.
Next: Finishing up the frame, Suicide doors, 3 inch chop top, full sheet metal bed with wood bed floor, custom hood, fire wall and V8 small block.

Keep checking back for updates.
